Yesterday we got contacted by a local fellow Ukrainian. She immigrated with her mom to the US about a year ago. She was happy to start a new life in America and currently working on finishing her degree in becoming a dentist. Leaving behind in Ukraine, another doctor in the family – her brother. He is currently on the ground in Khmelnytskyi Children’s Hospital, serving as an anesthesiologist in the intensive care unit.
Here is their story:
“As the war in Ukraine began, millions of Ukrainians have fled the war. More than 3.6 million of them have fled the country, but 7 million people are fleeing inside Ukraine. Khmelnytskyi is one of the cities in Ukraine to welcome those severely affected by war. The Intensive Care of Khmelnytskyi Children’s Hospital wasn’t expecting this tremendous amount of kids and now is overwhelmed due to the lack of medical equipment for those in critical condition.
Because of the war, buying the needed equipment became virtually impossible. Firstly, because there are no warehouses available to order it; and secondly, because there are no funds. At this point, our goal is to collect the funds and ship the medical equipment directly from the USA, in order to give a chance for life for children, the life of which depends on this equipment.”
We need to raise close to $60.000 for this equipment to save children’s lives. We will try to purchase it here in the USA and already have ways to get it to the hospital from Poland directly delivered by car.
