Part IV – Financial learning experience

Date

Sadly and ironically, collecting the funds wasn’t the hardest – it was sending and receiving the money that made the week of March 5th through 11th – a living puzzle of frustration.

Originally, we believed funds could be sent through MoneyGram and Payoneer – two systems still functioning in Ukraine. The money would hit our volunteers’ checking accounts and be used for various missions. Without getting into drooling details of how difficult it was to get the funds on the ground, finally, on March 11th, the first transaction of $10.000 hit the ground. Funds were picked up immediately and purchased the van full of food was to Kharkiv – where over 1000 people got provisions and help.

The second batch of $5000 hit the ground on Saturday the 12th, which our volunteers used to get the food and provisions to so many people in need.

Now, understanding how the delivery system works, we can plan ahead with missions and how to fund them. Look out for my next posts, where we will share the stories of missions and pictures.
